Rebecca Peters, Esquire
Virginia Criminal Defense & Reckless Driving Attorney | Peters Law Firm, PLLC
There is a moment after a case is over when a client walks out the door and the rest of their life begins.
Rebecca Peters built Peters Law Firm around that moment, and around a genuine care for what comes next.
Her mission is to protect her clients’ freedom so they can pursue happiness and succeed – in their case and in the life that follows.
When your future is on the line, that kind of care makes all the difference.
“3 words: HIRE. THIS. ATTORNEY. Rebecca is an honest, awesome and tough attorney. My case was extremely complicated and Rebecca treated my case and me as a person with respect and professionalism. She worked diligently for me and my family and I am so grateful to her for WINNING my case. Rebecca gets it done.”

Richmond, Virginia Criminal Defense Attorney
Rebecca Peters has been building her case for this career since she was nine years old, watching the OJ Simpson trial and asking questions most kids weren’t asking. In high school she joined the mock trial team and never looked back, going on to compete and win awards at the collegiate and law school level. In college, alongside Division I synchronized swimming at the national level, she was working both as a legal assistant at a family law firm and as a paralegal at a securities litigation firm.
Somewhere in all of that, she discovered something that has stayed with her ever since: that the work of helping someone succeed, whether in competition or in a courtroom, takes preparation, creativity, and a genuine belief that a better outcome is possible.
She went on to the University of Richmond School of Law, where she clerked for a criminal defense firm and graduated with a deep commitment to trial work. She was inducted into the Order of Barristers for exceptional skill in trial and oral advocacy, and licensed to practice in both Virginia and Georgia.
That foundation shapes everything about how she practices today.
Rebecca knows exactly what is at stake when she takes a case. A criminal charge does not just threaten your freedom in the abstract. It threatens your record, your job, your education, your ability to drive, to vote, to be present for your kids. The consequences ripple out in ways people do not always anticipate.
For young clients especially, a charge that is handled wrong can follow them for decades, closing doors to schools, careers, and opportunities they have not even reached yet.
Rebecca does not take that lightly. There can be a real stigma in having a charge in the first place, and too often people encounter a system that treats defendants as guilty before anything has been proven. She rejects that. She is here to help good people do a little better. To liberate the innocent. To uphold the Constitution and the rights of every client who walks through her door. To help people find their path to redemption.
That is why she does this work: so that when the case is over, her clients can move forward and pursue the life they were building.
The American legal system was built on a simple premise: innocent until proven guilty. Rebecca holds that standard to account in every case she takes. She does the hard work of careful, evidence-based analysis, scrutinizing whether proper procedure was followed, challenging weak evidence, and never letting the prosecution coast.
Winning a case doesn’t look the same in every situation. Sometimes it requires mitigation – guiding a client through steps that position the court to consider a dismissal or reduction. Other times it means taking the case to trial and advocating with full force.
Rebecca and her team are ready for both, and every client has that full team at their disposal throughout the process.
Virginia Criminal Defense Results That Speak for Themselves
Protecting freedom is not abstract. Rebecca and her law firm have secured outcomes her clients describe as life-changing:
- A felony assault and battery on a police officer charge for a working professional whose one bad night threatened to derail everything is on track for dismissal.
- A father's protective order on appeal was overturned, allowing him to keep coaching his child's swim team and protecting his government contracting career.
- Multiple DUI clients facing mandatory jail time have had their charges reduced, with no jail time imposed.
- Juvenile clients have walked away with acquittals that gave them a real shot at the future they had planned.
Behind every one of those outcomes is a person who got their life back.
Outside of her practice, Rebecca is usually moving. She is an avid runner and stays active through pickleball and tennis. She also enjoys sailing in Connecticut. At home, she has recently embraced her favorite new role: mom to a new baby, with two opinionated cats rounding out the family.
Facing Criminal Charges in Virginia? Your Future Deserves a Real Advocate.
Rebecca Peters built this firm around a single mission: to help people pursue happiness by protecting their freedom. Her team operates with diligence, clear communication, and a constant drive to find better ways to serve each client. She shows up to every case prepared to tell each client’s story, the full picture, argued with the clarity, precision, and care that has defined everything she has done in every arena she has ever competed in.
When the case is over, she wants her clients walking out empowered to move forward, pursue happiness, and build the better future they deserve.

What Our Clients Are Saying
3 Words: HIRE. THIS. ATTORNEY. Do yourself a huge favor and get Rebecca before someone else does! Rebecca is an honest, awesome and tough attorney. My case was extremely complicated and Rebecca treated my case and me as a person with respect and professionalism. She knows exactly what she is doing and is a formidable force in the court room. She is extremely sharp and knows her stuff. She worked diligently for me and my family and I am so grateful to her for WINNING my case. Rebecca gets it done!!
Rebecca is the absolute best! She put real time and thought into helping me and was always available to speak when I needed her, and made me feel very comfortable through out the time we worked together! Would highly recommend!!
Mrs. Peters was very helpful in her consultation with me. She laid out what kind of charges I could face and what the judge & prosecutor would be looking for, as well as what sort of volunteer groups I could join for preemptive community service. Unable to take my case, she was kind enough to refer me to another lawyer who could.
The attorneys at Peters Law Firm did an exceptional job in representing me in a civil case. The staff went above and beyond to represent me and my financial interests. While I have not used their services for any criminal matters, I can not imagine they would not work with the same professional diligence in that field of law. They have earned not only my gratitude but also my trust.
I had the pleasure of having Rebecca Johnson Peters represent me during a very difficult custody battle. Mrs. Peters was very professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and diligent throughout the entire process. I cannot thank her enough for her devotion to my custody case, and would highly recommend Mrs. Peters.
I reached out to Ms. Rebecca immediately after receiving a reckless driving ticket with court summons. Needless to say, I was extremely worried. I was already stressed out from working and going to school simultaneously; a misdemeanor was the last thing I needed. Within 12 hours of emailing Ms. Rebecca, she called me and gave me a full run down of her game plan. I did zero work. Any time something needed to be done on my behalf, she emailed me what to do, how to do it, when to do it by, and oh by the way here’s the link. Everything else that could be done by her (99% of it) she did. I spent nights worrying and watching YouTube videos of lawyers talking about what it means to get a RD ticket and how screwed I was; in hindsight fruitlessly. My RD charge was dropped, no community service, no courses, nothing required of me at all other than an $80 court fee(which Ms. Rebecca of course sent me exact instructions on where to go, how to pay, and by when to do it). She charged very little for her stellar services and I can not be more grateful. My insurance rate and driving record thank her. If you were driving too fast or too aggressively and got busted, there’s no reason to let it stress you out or take a dent out of your paycheck. Give Ms. Rebecca a call and let her take care of it.
Rebecca is professional, honest, and empathic. After I received my first speeding ticket, I was feeling nervous and overwhelmed. Having Rebecca as my lawyer was one of the smartest decisions I have ever made. She was honest and empathetic with me throughout the legal process. If you want a lawyer that you can trust and that will care about you, I highly recommend hiring Rebecca Peters as your lawyer.
I was so impressed! Rebecca is a smart and incredibly competent defense attorney, determined to get the best result for her client. Her knowledge of the legal system, her value for “relationships”, and her creativity will undoubtedly serve you well if you choose her to represent you, just as it served me. Through her, I received a miracle of a deal, and I couldn’t speak more favorably about her performance. She was awesome!
"I was fortunate to work on my case with Mrs. Peters. During my first phone call with her, she heard about my situation and followed the whole scenario on how I got my reckless driving charge. She is a great communicator and laid out everything for my reckless driving speeding ticket. She wanted me to follow few steps prior to my court date, which included community service and a 12-hour driving program. Before my hearing, she let me know couple of times what the maximum punishment was that I could face and made sure I was ready for it beforehand. With these prior tasks and her defending me in court, I was able to get my reckless charge completely dismissed. I would definitely recommend hiring her if you got a reckless driving ticket in the Richmond area. Her work is beyond amazing!"
"I am pleased with everything my attorney did and I really appreciate the time and efforts she put toward my case. Thank you once again!"
Rebecca Peters offers exceptional value as an attorney. She will keep you informed and spend the necessary time not only to prepare for your legal challenges but also to keep you informed and educated along the way. She is confident yet calm and attentive… ready to pivot as necessary to make sure her clients receive the best possible outcome.

Peters Law Firm represented our son in a reckless driving case. Within the first few minutes of speaking with Mrs. Rebecca Johnson Peters about our son's case, we knew that we had come to the right person. She was very informative & helpful to us when it came to explaining the system, and how her services could benefit our son. She also explained to us which steps we needed to take to prepare for the hearing. We never felt alone in this situation. She stayed in communication with us throughout the whole process. When we walked into the courtroom with Mrs. Peters speaking on our son's behalf, we felt confident that Rebecca would do everything within her power to represent our son’s best interests. She made sure the Judge had a clear understanding of the full picture. We would fully recommend Peters Law Firm!
Very detail oriented. She knows what it takes as an attorney. I liked the quick responses and ability to use wide range of collaboration tools for communication. Definitely knowledgeable of her local courts in the Henrico County area. I'd highly recommend Rebecca.
They are very reliable, honest and work with integrity. I recommend any one with a traffic case, seeking a law firm and expecting a favorable response to employ their service. They communicated and provided answers to any question I had. Also provided me with the best options available. The case was to my favor. Honestly, they remain the best in this aspect.
Rebecca Peters was helpful, professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and skilled when representing me. She kept me informed every step of the way. I appreciated her attention to detail and wouldn't hesitate to ask for her help again.
Mrs. Peters and her firm was whom I had decided to represent me since I was out of state. She got my reckless driving that I obtained on I-95 and had it dropped to a lesser charge that had no points against my license. I would recommend her and her firm.
THANK YOU, Rebecca, for your patience and precise instructions that allowed me to have reduced charges.

Mrs. Peters was great to work with. She is a great communicator and laid out everything for my reckless charge. The charge was 88 mph on a 65 mph. She had me complete community service and a driving school as well as get a calibration test for my vehicle. With these items and her defending me in court I was able to get my reckless charge completely dismissed. If you got a reckless driving ticket, mainly in Henrico County, I would push you to hire her. Her work is beyond amazing! You will not find anyone better than her and she has such a strong presence.
She has been very attentive to detail, kind, and her demeanor in the court is very professional yet impressively calm and approachable. Overall, a pleasure being her client. The case hasn't been an easy task but has been handled with diligence. Would recommend!!

Ended up getting a reckless driving summons. Went to Rebecca and she was able to get it reduced to just a speeding infraction. Extremely helpful and communicative through the whole process.
If I could give Mrs. Peters more stars I would! She was absolutely amazing! I reached out to her about my case, and she responded immediately with a plan and very reasonable prices. Over the next couple months, I barely did anything and if anything needed to be done on my part, she emailed or texted with clear, simple instructions and multiple resources. Mrs. Peters remained professional and diligent throughout my entire experience and needless to say we won the case. I loved everything about my time with Mrs. Peters.
What a great experience from start to finish! Rebecca nailed it! 10/10 would recommend.
