Brunswick County, Virginia — Reckless Driving Defense Attorney Case Result

Class 1 misdemeanor Reckless Driving charge for driving at a speed over 85 MPH was REDUCED to a non-criminal traffic infraction of Speeding 1-9 MPH over the limit.  Unlike Reckless Driving, which is a misdemeanor charge that carries 6 points on a driving record for 11 years, Speeding 1-9 MPH over the limit is a traffic infraction which carries 3 points on a driving record for 5 years.  Also, because a speeding infraction is not a misdemeanor offense, it does not carry a potential jail sentence or license suspension, and the fine which may be imposed is much less than the fine for Reckless Driving.
